Inevitability
The shadow twitched, nervously
smiling at her laughter, abandoned
in the schisms of broken identity,
stolen remnants of abundant ardor.
Halting, senses keen on a threat
apparent, transitioning invisibility to
centre of her perceptual modality;
knew she must run, far and farthest.
Aching and hurting, feet dragged
through ugly screeches and scars of
every untold, unheard silent slivers
smarting, begging to be forgotten.
Panicked, falling into a gorge for an
eternity of nothingness; with a gasp
pulled back to the soft firmness of
the shadow’s pericardium.
